POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Community Waiver Services leads and oversees Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver programs and residential group home operations in alignment with The Arc of Central Alabama's mission to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live full, meaningful, and self-directed lives.

This role ensures high-quality, person-centered supports across community and residential settings, maintains regulatory compliance, manages program budgets, and provides strategic leadership to staff serving individuals in both waiver and group home programs.

The Director collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, families, and community partners to promote independence, inclusion, and dignity for every person served.

Key Responsibilities


* Provide leadership, supervision, and support to Community Waiver Coordinators, Case Managers, Group Home Managers, and other program staff.


* Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned group homes, ensuring safe, supportive, and person-centered environments.


* Ensure full compliance with HCBS Waiver regulations, the HCBS Settings Rule, Department of Mental Health (DMH) standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.


* Monitor service delivery quality through home visits, documentation audits, incident reviews, and staff performance evaluations.


* Manage program budgets, service utilization, and expenditures, including oversight of people-served accounts and supply requisitions.


* Collaborate with clinical and interdisciplinary professionals (e.g., behavior support providers, therapists, medical providers) to ensure holistic support for individuals.


* Serve as a liaison with families, guardians, DMH representatives, provider agencies, and community partners.


* Lead initiatives that promote community integration, self-advocacy, and person-centered planning across all service settings.


* Develop, implement, and update policies, procedures, and staff training to enhance program effectiveness and regulatory compliance.


* Oversee incident management processes, ensure timely reporting, and implement corrective actions when needed.


* Participate in organizational leadership activities and contribute to long-term planning for community and residential services.


* Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Community

Requirements



* Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.


* Minimum of three years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


* Experience with HCBS Waiver programs, residential services, or community-based supports preferred.


* Master's degree in a related field preferred.


* Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the region.
