Construction Superintendent (Concrete Paving)

New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc.

(NESL) is seeking a Concrete Roadway Patching Superintendent to lead and manage our growing pipeline of concrete patching and pavement rehabilitation work across Central and Eastern PA.

This role is focused on full-depth concrete patching, partial-depth patching, dowel bar retrofit (DBR), and concrete roadway repairs for PennDOT, PTC, and municipal customers.
The Superintendent will report directly to the Heavy Highway General Superintendent – East and work closely with internal Materials, QC, and Transportation teams to deliver safe, high-quality, high-production patching work.

 This position is ideal for experienced concrete patching leaders who want to take ownership of a patching program and run it independently.
Based out of Central & Eastern Pennsylvania (Harrisburg, Lancaster, Allentown regions) This position may support projects statewide, but the majority of work is concentrated in Central and Eastern PA along the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Northeast Extension, and adjacent regional corridors.

Concrete Paving Superintendent - What Will You Do?


* Plan, manage, and execute full-depth and partial-depth concrete roadway patching, DBR, and associated repair work.


* Ensure compliance with PennDOT/PTC standards including Pub 408 Sections 507, 704, and all patching related special provisions.


* Manages financial and budget aspects for assigned projects and tracks productivity of work.

Closely tracks project costs and expenses and ensures project budgets are met.


* Provides daily supervision to foremen and crews and subcontractors in the completion of assigned projects.


* Understands the needs of the project(s) and ensures manpower and equipment are scheduled and available to meet target timelines.

Schedules personnel, including subcontractors, and equipment for crew and project(s).


* Possesses a strong understanding of safety policies and procedures and directs the overall safety culture within area(s) of responsibility.

Enforces safety procedures and observes to ensure that safety policies and procedures are being implemented and met.


* Reads and interprets construction plans and communicates plans to construction teams; develops project plans and schedules based on agreed upon construction plans.


* Inspects construction operations on an ongoing basis, conducts final quality inspections with government/customer representatives; handles any potential site problems with crew.


* Coordinate with other lines of business including Materials, QC, and Transportation.


* Maintain strong, professional relationships with inspectors, project owners, local officials, PMs, estimators, and internal partners.


* May perform other duties as assigned.
