Intern - DevOps Engineer
Description & Requirements
Build a strong foundation in modern engineering as a DevOps Engineer at Maximus, where you'll work alongside experienced mentors to support and enhance cloud-based systems in a mission-driven environment.
In this role, you'll assist with managing cloud resources, identifying opportunities to improve CI/CD pipelines, strengthening system observability, and building infrastructure-as-code components using tools like Terraform.
You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in technical discussions and project meetings, and support cloud security initiatives-developing hands-on experience with AWS and DevOps best practices while growing your problem-solving and customer-focused mindset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work on IT assignments of moderate difficulty under the direction of a more senior mentor to build a well-rounded skillset.
- Escalate issues and questions to management, as necessary.
- Participate in group discussions with peers or external groups to solution problems of moderate scope.
- Participate in meetings to gain process knowledge and guidance on assigned projects.
- Read, understand, and perform assignments within prescribed guidelines.
- Approach challenges and create solutions with a critical thinking and customer service mindset.
- Prepare standard reports and presentation materials.
- Help manage cloud resources and basic cloud administration tasks
- Identify opportunities to enhance CI/CD processes
- Assist with improving Observability across systems
- Assist in building Infrastructure-as-code components
- Support cloud security initiatives
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required and 0-2 years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Cloud (preferably AWS) experience
- IaC (preferably Terraform) experience
