Nexus Operator II - 1st Shift

POSITION PURPOSE

A shop hourly position with the primary responsibilities to operate weld cells, assemble units, and  troubleshooting of plate products.  As an experienced mechanic, the Nexus Operator II has a high level of proficiency in operating automated cell equipment, and leads junior mechanics or teams as assigned demonstrating BAC’s values of Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation.

The Mechanic will also be required to train and mentor junior mechanics as assigned.  The purpose for every position at BAC regardless of department or level can be summed up as doing the right thing in the right way.

                                                         

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


* Owns personal and team safety.

Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times.


* Perform functions in all NEXUS stations, including but not limited to Assembly, Basic Robotics Operation, and Welding.



* Utilize standard work to build product to specification and interpret for junior mechanics.


* Operate equipment in a manner that maximizes productivity and quality.



* Meet or exceed production goals for shift.


* Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.


* Responsible for the daily and weekly sign-off of the primary maintenance procedure checklist.


* Aggressively uphold and support quality and process standards.


* Train and develop junior mechanics to achieve technical and professional expertise.


* Understand departmental metrics and communicate / interpret for junior mechanics.


* Update and post metrics as assigned.


* Accurately complete paperwork or online data entry required by department.


* Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to safety standards.


* Practice and sustain 5’s methodology.


* Competency with MS Excel including updating data and generating metrics in spreadsheets.


* Demonstrated flexibility to work at multiple department work stations and adapt to change.


* Participate in continuous improvement activities and projects.


* Contribute to departmental safety improvements and initiatives.


* Perform other duties as requested, directed and assigned.

NATURE & SCOPE

Reports to the Team Leader, Station Leader, or Lead Mechanic as assigned.  Work is primarily related to home department, but may be flexed to other departments as order demand dictates.  May be assigned the training and mentoring of junior mechanics.
