Pay Rate: Starting at $42.00 per hour
Status: PRN / Per Diem
Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
General Purpose

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) assists the Physical Therapist with patient-related activities and provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders and established treatment plans.

This role supports high-quality rehabilitation services focused on improving residents' functional outcomes and quality of life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities


* Provide treatment to patients as directed by the Physical Therapist


* Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes in accordance with PT Board standards


* Treat patients per the physician-approved plan of care


* Participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed


* Assist with maintaining and organizing the therapy department


* Clean and maintain treatment areas and equipment


* Communicate patient progress, problems, and plans with the supervising therapist and interdisciplinary team


* Assist nursing staff with training of Restorative Aides as needed


* Participate in facility in-service training programs


* Document treatment changes per facility policy and procedures


* Instruct patients, families, and caregivers on maintenance programs and discharge planning


* Report equipment issues to ensure safe and proper operation


* Maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, staff, and colleagues

Supervisory Responsibilities


* This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications

Education & Experience


* Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program


* Proficient in electronic documentation systems (Casamba and PointClickCare preferred)

Licensure & Certifications


* Current, active Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license in the state


* Maintain license in good standing and meet all continuing education requirements

Language Skills


* Ability to read and understand technical procedures and policy manuals


* Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members

Mathematical & Reasoning Skills


* Ability to apply basic math concepts


* Ability to solve practical problems and follow written and verbal instructions

Physical Demands


* Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling


* Ability to exert up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally


* Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling


* Frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling


* Visual abilities including close, distance, peripheral, color, and depth perception
