DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking a Bridge Technical Manager to join our Bridge Inspection & Asset Management team in Harrisburg, PA.

This highly visible role is ideal for an engineering leader who thrives on solving complex challenges, mentoring teams, and driving innovation across bridge inspection, asset management, and infrastructure engineering.

The Bridge Technical Manager will play a key role in delivering some of our most challenging and impactful projects.

Responsibilities span the full range of bridge inspection and asset management activities, including on-site client support (primarily PennDOT and PTC), policy and procedure development, and testing/implementation of emerging inspection and asset management technologies.

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor-internally and externally-while helping advance our tools, methods, and capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Bridge Inspection & Asset Management


* Perform bridge inspections and accurately identify priority maintenance needs.


* Develop repair recommendations and review inspection reports for completeness and quality.


* Ensure timely submission of inspection documents in compliance with NBIS and state/federal regulations.


* Lead or support emergency inspections and mission-critical asset management initiatives.


* Perform and review design and load ratings for a wide variety of bridge types.

Leadership & Client Engagement


* Lead, mentor, and guide teams of staff engineers; foster a collaborative and inclusive environment.


* Provide engineering solutions for complex or unique project challenges.


* Serve as a champion for adopting cutting-edge technologies and innovative engineering methods.


* Develop and maintain strong client relationships across the country as a recognized subject matter expert.


* Advise clients on best practices, industry trends, and technologies to improve project quality, safety, schedule, and budget.

Strategic & Technical Contributions


* Prepare and update bridge inspection policies and client procedures.


* Support proposal development and help shape strategic pursuits with unique value propositions.


* Conduct seminars, workshops, and training courses on bridge engineering topics.
