Engineer 1 (Design)
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
* Create and revise 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings in accordance with company drafting standards.
* Assist in the development of new products, components, and assemblies from concept through production.
* Perform basic engineering calculations to support product performance, safety, and reliability.
* Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
* Participate in testing in the engineering lab and production.
Documentation & Engineering Support
* Generate and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, DCNs/DRNs, test procedures, and technical reports.
* Support prototype fabrication, testing, and validation activities.
* Assist with sustaining engineering efforts to support operations and maintain performance of existing products
* Work with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and optimized for production.
* Assist in troubleshooting issues related to design, quality, or performance.
Collaboration & Communication
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Production, and Sales.
* Communicate design intent clearly through models, drawings, and presentations.
* Support continuous improvement, cost reduction, and standardization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline.
* Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar).
* Understanding of dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawing standards.
* Basic knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Internship or co-op experience in product design, manufacturing, or engineering support.
* Experience working within an ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor).
* Familiarity with FEA tools, tolerance stack-ups, and technical documentation.
* Hands-on mechanical aptitude and ability to participate in assembly/test activities.

Working Conditions
* Office and shop/production floor environment as needed.
* Occasional travel may be required for vendor visits, training, or field support.
* Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and participate in hands-on testing activities.
* Work may be performed in an engineering laboratory environment where exposure to diesel fuel, oils, and other test fluids is required.
