Midtown Oaks Post Acute is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Staff Development (DSD) to lead education, training, and competency development for our nursing team.

This leadership role is critical to maintaining regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, and continuous staff growth.
Position Summary

The Director of Staff Development is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all education and training programs for nursing and clinical staff.

The DSD ensures compliance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH), CMS, and facility policies, while promoting best practices in patient care.

Key Responsibilities


* Develop, implement, and oversee staff education and training programs in accordance with CDPH and federal regulations


* Ensure all nursing staff meet orientation, annual, and ongoing in-service training requirements


* Coordinate and document new hire orientation and clinical competency assessments


* Maintain accurate training records and documentation for surveys and audits


* Provide infection prevention education in collaboration with Infection Preventionist


* Educate staff on policies, procedures, and changes in regulations


* Conduct skills validation, competency testing, and remediation as needed


* Support Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives


* Collaborate with DON, ADON, and interdisciplinary leadership


* Participate in survey preparation and response to plans of correction related to staff education

CDPH & Regulatory Requirements (Must Meet)


* Active California RN license in good standing


* Minimum 2 years of nursing experience


* At least 1 year of experience in a skilled nursing facility


* Completion of a CDPH-approved Director of Staff Development (24-hour) course


* (Must be completed within 6 months of appointment if not already certified)


* Demonstrated knowledge of Title 22, CMS, and long-term care regulations

Preferred Qualifications


* Prior experience as a DSD or nurse educator in a SNF


* Strong teaching, leadership, and communication skills


* Organized, detail-oriented, and survey-ready mindset


* Experience with electronic training and LMS platforms


* Infection control or QAPI experience a plus
