Rehab Aide
Job Summary
The Rehab Aide supports the rehabilitation department by assisting Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants with patient care activities, maintaining the therapy environment, and ensuring efficient department operations.
This is a non-licensed position that works under the direction and supervision of licensed therapy staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants with patient treatments as directed and within scope of practice.
* Prepare patients and treatment areas for therapy sessions.
* Assist with patient transfers, ambulation, and positioning under supervision.
* Clean, sanitize, and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas according to infection control policies.
* Transport patients to and from therapy sessions as needed.
* Assist with maintaining an organized and safe rehabilitation department.
* Participate in patient care conferences and rehabilitation meetings as requested.
* Communicate effectively with supervisors and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient participation, tolerance, and concerns.
* Assist with restorative aide training and support under direction of therapy and nursing leadership.
* Provide basic instruction to patients, families, and nursing staff on maintenance programs as directed by therapy staff.
* Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly to ensure proper maintenance and operation.
* Participate in in-service training programs and staff education as assigned.
* Document treatment support activities per facility policies and procedures.
* Demonstrate the ability to relate positively, effectively, and professionally with patients/residents, families, staff, and colleagues.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Previous experience in a healthcare, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting preferred but not required.
Computer Skills
* Basic computer proficiency required.
* Ability to input data into electronic medical record systems such as Casamba and PointClickCare preferred.
Language Skills
* Ability to read and understand technical instructions, policies, and procedures.
* Ability to communicate effectively with managers, coworkers, patients, and families.
Mathematical Skills
* Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
* Ability to solve practical problems and follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
* No professional license required.
* CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain per facility policy.
