Quality Specialist

At John Zink in Tulsa, the Quality Specialist plays a key role in ensuring manufacturing quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across operations.

Working Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m.

to 2:30 p.m., this position partners closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to prevent defects, resolve quality issues, and support customer and regulatory requirements.

In addition to technical quality responsibilities, the role emphasizes coaching and capability building to strengthen standard work, problem-solving skills, and a culture of quality ownership on the shop floor.

At our Tulsa, OK facility, the Quality team is at the forefront of ensuring every product meets the highest standards of reliability and compliance.

From supplier surveillance to hands-on inspection and quality control, the team safeguards excellence at every stage of manufacturing.

What You Will Do


* Maintain and support the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, industry standards, and customer requirements.


* Review and approve quality records, including WPS/PQRs, welder qualifications, inspection reports, and material traceability documentation.


* Lead and support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions, verifying effectiveness and driving sustainable improvements.


* Analyze quality metrics (scrap, rework, NCRs, customer complaints) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.


* Manage nonconforming material processes and support disposition and NCR activities.


* Coach and mentor quality technicians, inspectors, and production teams on quality standards, inspection methods, and best practices.


* Support internal, customer, and third-party audits and ensure timely and effective closure of findings.


* Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, suppliers, and customers to align quality expectations and prevent defects.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Experience in a manufacturing or quality-related role.


* Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and codes.


* Working knowledge of nonconformance management, inspection plans, and quality documentation.

What Will Put You Ahead


* Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ASME, API, AWS, and related industry standards.


* Experience with root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, RCFA).


* Experience supporting or delivering training in a manufacturing environment.


* Experience working with supplier and customer quality requirements.
