Buyer (Material Planner)
We are seeking a highly skilled Buyer to join our Materials & Purchasing team at our Assumption, IL facility.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the procurement of materials and services at the best possible price given specified quality standards and time constraints.
Your Impact
* Maintain monitoring system for purchase orders to ensure timely arrival of material required.
Communicate any delays to the organization.
To include creating, expediting and managing PO's.
* Support GPT Procurement strategies and policies.
* Build and develop relationships with key suppliers, and corporate purchasing team.
* Participate in scheduling customer orders by providing lead time and availability information for purchased components.
* Support implementation of cost reduction and product improvement projects
* Maintain metrics that accurately reflect departmental performance regarding on-time delivery, inventory levels, etc.
* Monitor, analyze, and minimize purchasing variances.
* Support and maintain process used to analyze and improve supplier performance.
* Maintain up to date pricing for purchased items.
* Building gap stock supplier knowledge.
* Work with Engineering Department in approving substitute components.
* Must possess a working knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning and how to maximize its use in the Purchasing functions for a Manufacturing Facility.
* Analyze purchased inventory and determine appropriate stock levels and methods to reduce overall levels.
* Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization as well as represent GPT effectively with our supply base.
* Support and maintain procedures that ensure purchasing activities are accurately recorded in SAP
* Proficient with common Personal Computer software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Support the development and expansion of EDI within the Purchasing Department.
* Support and maintain the cost data required by the Sales Quoting Program.
* Maintain communication forecasting and indexes for strategic commodities.
Your Experience and Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Business or equivalent experience
* CPM Certification is not required but is a plus
* 2-5 years Purchasing experience, if no certification or bachelor's degree
Your Compensation and Benefits
Expected annual salary for this role will be $45,000 - $55,000, plus eligible for an annual bonus.
This is dependent upon job related knowledge, experience, and skills.
