Tariff and Duty Drawback Clerk

Cornell Pump Company is a prominent leader in the centrifugal pump industry with over 75 years of experience and continuous growth.

Our manufacturing facilities located in Clackamas, OR, Vancouver, WA, and Rock Hill, SC allow us to serve diverse markets such as Agriculture, Industrial, Municipal, Rental, and Mining.

We are seeking a Duty Drawback & Tariff Clerk to join our growing team in Vancouver, WA.

This role involves analyzing import/export data during the production and inventory process, maintaining compliance with customs regulations, identifying eligible tariff recovery opportunities, and coordinating with internal departments and external brokers to prepare and file drawback claims accurately and on time.

Location: On-site Vancouver, WA
Salary: $45,000 to $55,000 DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

What You'll Do:


* Prepare and track all duty drawback claims (Exported Product)


* Collect, organize, and maintain import/export documentation including: Entry summaries, Commercial invoices, Bills of lading, Export records, etc.


* Enter and validate data in spreadsheets and internal systems


* Determine correct Tariff classifications for imported and exported goods.

Ensure compliance with CBP, BIS, and other regulatory agencies


* Support reconciliation of import and export data for drawback eligibility


* Maintain organized records to support audits and CBP retention requirements


* Communicate with internal teams, customs brokers, and logistics partners to obtain required documentation


* Assist with basic reporting and status tracking of drawback claims


* Stay current with tariff changes, rulings, exclusions, and trade regulations.

Monitor duty spend trends, tariff exposure, and cost‐saving opportunities


* Review commercial invoices, product specifications, and bills of materials for accurate tariff application

PREFERED EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES:


* Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or progress toward certification.


* Experience in manufacturing or import/export-heavy industries.


* Familiarity with free trade agreements (USMCA, etc.).


* ERP or trade compliance software experience.


* 2-5 years of experience in customs compliance, tariff classification, or duty drawback.


* 2-5 years of experience working with customs brokers or ACE systems.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


* 1-2 years of experience with duty drawback


* High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (business, supply chain, logistics, international trade, or accounting)


* Strong understanding of HTS classification

+ CBP regulations
+ Duty drawback rules (19 CFR Part 190)
+ Import/Export documentation


* Strong analytical skills with Excel


* High attention to detail and accuracy
