Project Engineer

The Project Engineer I supports cross-functional teams in delivering projects that align with CIVCO’s strategic priorities.

While the primary focus will be on customer-driven, new product development initiatives, the role may also involve supporting other efforts — including cost reduction, design enhancements, supply chain continuity, and process improvements.

All work is performed under the guidance of experienced engineers, providing opportunities to learn, develop skills, and grow within the role.

Project Engineer I is based out of our production facility in Coralville, IA.

This position may have opportunities for flexible scheduling and part-time telecommuting as experience grows.

What You’ll Do



* Support the development of project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements, with oversight from senior engineers.


* Assist in organizing and participating in project team meetings, ensuring follow-up actions are documented and completed.


* Track project progress and help identify potential risks, escalating concerns to the project lead.


* Prepare project status updates for external and internal stakeholders.


* Help ensure design control complies with applicable standards and regulations.


* Collaborate with internal teams to apply structured problem-solving methods on assigned tasks.


* Learn and apply CIVCO’s quality and change management processes.

Education and/or Experience



* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


* 0-1 years of engineering or technical project experience (internship experience acceptable).

Qualifications



* Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office products; willingness to learn Microsoft Project and other engineering software tools.


* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


* Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment.

What Makes You Stand Out



* Familiarity with stage-gate or similar structured development frameworks.


* Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, quality, operations, marketing) on product design or testing activities.


* Basic understanding of design verification/validation and regulatory considerations in product development (ISO 13485, 14971, 10993, etc.).


* Translating customer requirements into engineering specifications.


* Awareness of risk analysis tools such as FMEA in the context of new product development.
