GIS Analyst

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has an opportunity for a GIS Analyst position with the Technical Services Bureau located in Riverside.

The incumbent will be tasked with maintaining, updating, and developing public safety Geographic Information System (GIS) data integrity according to national NENA standards and Sheriff Computer-aided Dispatch (CAD) schema's; and performing quality assurance and control processes on GIS and attribute information.

Other duties include: consulting with wireless providers, CalOES, and customers to determine GIS and system information needs; preparing technical documentation including data specifications, user requirements, and procedures; creating cartographic and other products using GIS software, relational and object databases utilizing plotters, printers, digitizers, scanners, and internet applications; collaborating with local, regional, and State GIS experts to achieve and support NextGen 911 initiatives; and identifying gaps and recommending enhancements to base maps.

Competitive candidates will have four or more years of experience with Esri Arc GIS suite of products and four years or more of sub-professional or professional GIS experience.

The GIS Analyst is the journey level classification in the GIS Analyst series and reports to a GIS Supervisor Analyst.

This class is characterized by diverse, complex, and custom assignments performed with significant independence and incumbents are expected to provide high-level professional GIS products and services.

The GIS Analyst class differs from the GIS Senior Analyst in that the latter class performs the most complex professional GIS tasks and assignments and may act in a lead capacity.
