Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist

Nemours is seeking a Certified Prosthetist / Orthotist (CPO) in Jacksonville, FL.

The Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist (CPO) is responsible for evaluating patients with limb deficiencies or neuromuscular and musculoskeletal impairments, designing appropriate prosthetic and orthotic solutions, and overseeing the fabrication, fitting, and adjustment of devices.

This role provides patient-centered care aimed at restoring function, improving mobility, and enhancing overall quality of life.

This is a clinical setting with occasional time in fabrication lab environments.

May require occasional travel between clinic locations or to patient facilities including the Operating Room.

Essential Functions

Clinical Care & Patient Management


* Regular interaction with patients requiring hands-on activities such as casting, molding, and device fitting.


* Perform comprehensive clinical assessments of patients requiring prosthetic or orthotic intervention.


* Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, patient goals, and functional needs.


* Design, measure, cast/scan, fit, and adjust custom prosthetic and orthotic devices.


* Conduct follow-up appointments to ensure optimal device function, comfort, and patient satisfaction.


* Educate patients and caregivers on device use, maintenance, troubleshooting, and rehabilitation expectations.


* Work directly with in-house physicians and providers to develop the most effective custom devices.


* Other duties as assigned by management.

Technical & Fabrication Oversight


* Create detailed design specifications and oversee fabrication processes in collaboration with technicians.


* Utilize traditional fabrication methods and digital CAD/CAM technologies as appropriate.


* Ensure devices meet clinical standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

Documentation & Compliance


* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including evaluation, treatment plans, device design, fabrication notes, and follow-up records.


* Complete coding and billing documentation according to department regulations and regulatory requirements.


* Comply with HIPAA and other privacy and ethical standards.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration


* Work closely with referring physicians, physical/occupational therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.


* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate patient care.

Professional Development & Quality Assurance


* Stay current with advancements in prosthetic and orthotic technologies, materials, and best practices.


* Participate in continuing education and maintain ABC certification while attending industry conferences.


* Contribute to quality assurance initiatives, process improvements, and clinic protocols.
