Temporary Park Maintenance Worker
The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) is seeking a Temporary Park Maintenance Worker to provide support to the Parks Department in Santa Ana River Bottom located in Riverside, CA .

Parks is a first professional level classification and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position.
This classification is characterized by having as its primary function the performance of buildings and grounds maintenance duties.
Incumbents may occasionally perform public contact duties such as answering questions of park users regarding park facilities and informing users of park rules and regulations.
This position requires work in outdoor environments under extreme weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to high heat, cold temperatures, and wet conditions.
Employees must be capable of extensive hiking over uneven terrain, sustained kneeling and bending, and lifting, carrying, or otherwise handling objects and equipment weighing 60 pounds or more.
Work assignments may take place in remote or rugged areas where employees may be exposed to living and deceased wild and domestic animals, as well as potentially hazardous wildlife and vegetation.
Such exposures may include, but are not limited to, rattlesnakes, bees and wasps, wild boar, mountain lions, domestic dogs, poison oak, and stinging nettle.
Position Overview for Park Maintenance Worker
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct maintenance work on reserve lands throughout western Riverside county
* Construction, instillation and repairs of fences and gates (sometimes in remote locations)
* Conducting string-trimmer, tractor mowing, and herbicide application, weed abatement (sometimes in remote locations);
* Assisting in instillation and long term maintenance of restoration project
* Trash, dumping, and homeless encampment cleanup
* Tractor grading dirt roads
* Other semi-skilled maintenance work
* Work with other agencies for Code, OHV, and illegal Dumping enforcement
* Provide assistance in emergency situations
* Answer public inquiries and complaints concerning reserve operations and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with common maintenance tools, equipment, and materials
• Basic knowledge of vehicle preventive maintenance
Additional Requirement:
• Valid Class C Driver's License required at time of offer
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM
