Technical Field Analyst
WHAT AWAITS YOU.
* Provides technical support for Western Region consumer litigation cases assigned and provides input to improve overall service quality.
* Provides technical assistance to BMW center and MINI dealer technicians via telephone and/or on-site visits for vehicles in litigation.
* Ensures all technical assistance information provided to the center/dealer is documented accurately.
* Performs vehicle inspections as directed for specified vehicles, conducting assessments of whether vehicles qualify for a repurchase under federal or state law.
* Has the unfettered discretion to offer the customer any of the following remedies: a repurchase of the subject vehicle, technical repairs, goodwill payments or customer loyalty credits toward the purchase of a new vehicle.
* Must be knowledgeable of the relevant presumptions and other standards set forth in federal and state consumer warranty and fraud law - especially in the State of California.
* Must show their work in a manner that sufficiently explains the basis of their decision so that an auditor or attorney defending the Company can later identify the basis of a decision and develop an effective defense strategy.
* Provides expert feedback to internal and outside counsel on issues found in technical information, product issues identified in litigation vehicles, new product issues and safety related issues, and problems that were not resolved resulting in a vehicle being repurchased.
* Acts as a Company Representative at mediations, arbitrations, court-ordered conferences, pre-trial hearings, and trial.
* Provides feedback to the Lead Engineer and the Region on specific Dealer Technical ability and areas for improvement, as well as unresolved Technical issues that require further investigation.
* Must be able to travel for vehicle inspections, deposition preparation, depositions, trials, trainings, and other events.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.
* Vocational degree, technical degree, associate's degree in automotive technology, or Bachelor's degree
* Certified BMW Master Technician including all associated specialties
* ASE Certification, preferred
* 5+ years experience as a Master Technician or 10+ years experience as a premium brand Master Technician equivalency in training certifications
* Must have the ability to perform diagnoses of complex technical issues
* Proficient user of data/diagnostic equipment
* Strong public speaking skills are preferred
* Proficient in MS Office Suite
* Must be able to work in workshop conditions, including outside
