Lab Technician I

PRIMARY FUNCTION :

This position is responsible for performing all laboratory functions concerning oil sampling and testing.

Provides direct communication on data analysis results, laboratory experiment operation and daily lab activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

Conducts the routine administrative functions of the SOS Lab to include sample registration, answering telephones, order supplies, cleans and maintains laboratory equipment and facilities.

Operates laboratory equipment, including Spectrometer, Viscosity, Infrared Instruments.

Conducts daily oil samples to determine the amount of various metals present.

Performs the necessary procedures for testing oil for antifreeze, fuel dilution and water.

Attends training sessions to stay abreast of innovations in testing procedures and oil analysis.

Maintains a current library of oil analysis literature.

Participates with supervisor in the development of objectives for the laboratory and the SOS program.

Carries out established testing objectives in a timely, professional and cost-effective manner.

Maintains testing volume and results information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

High school graduate

Work Experience:

Should have general exposure to laboratory equipment.

Physical:

Has ability to routinely lift fluid samples tray weighing up to 8 pounds

Can stand and/or sit for excessive periods performing laboratory functions

Can easily move around the lab to perform fluid analysis functions on various equipment

Other:

Must have basic computer skills exposure with Microsoft Office familiarity
