Western Slope Health Center is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Staff Development (DSD) to lead education, training, and professional growth for our care team.

This is a key leadership role that directly impacts staff success, regulatory compliance, and the quality of care we provide to our residents.

What You'll Do


* Plan, coordinate, and deliver facility orientation, in-services, and ongoing education programs


* Develop and maintain annual and monthly in-service training schedules


* Ensure compliance with state and federal training and certification requirements


* Coordinate fire, disaster, and emergency preparedness drills


* Identify education needs through surveys, evaluations, audits, and facility rounds


* Maintain accurate training and in-service documentation


* Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff development initiatives


* Participate in facility surveys and regulatory inspections


* Supervise and mentor staff, supporting performance improvement when needed


* Collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing and Administrator


* Provide direct resident/patient care as needed


* Uphold confidentiality and promote a positive, professional learning environment

What We're Looking For


* Current, unencumbered RN or LVN/LPN license in California (BSN preferred)


* CPR certification


* Minimum 1 year of direct patient care experience in a long-term care setting


* Minimum 1 year of experience in staff education, training, or program development


* 2+ years of experience in long-term care preferred


* Knowledge of PCC strongly preferred


* Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills


* Commitment to maintaining continuing education and license in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
