Pan Welder - 3rd Shift
POSITION PURPOSE
A shop hourly position with the primary responsibilities of leak free welds (pans) using pulse welding procedures and equipment, critical welds and corner welding. This position requires the ability to read and understand blue prints and a wide variety of product knowledge.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Possess good writing and oral communication skills and the ability to work professionally with BAC customer and co-workers.
• Competent in math including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions.
• Read measuring devices: ruler, combination square, protractor, metal gauge and micrometer.
• Able to read and understand all types of BAC drawings (assembly, fabrication, welding).
• Know what welding symbols mean.
• Good product knowledge.
• Understand bill of material.
• Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change.
• Passed the AWS D1.6 WPS – Structural Welding Code – Stainless Steel (WPQ A-AMP6)
• Passed the WPQ A-AMP6 Pan Simulation Workmanship Test
• Pass AWS D1.6 / D1.6M:2007 Strucutral Welding Code - Stainless Steel and the ANSI/ASME B31.5 Refrigeration Piping & Heat Transfer Components Visual Weld Exam every 3 years.
• General knowledge in the construction of BAC related equipment.
• Demonstrate strong skills in initiative, problem solving, and working in a “team” environment.
• Capable of working from ladders up to 20 feet in height.
• Operate overhead crane and be aware of balance and load limits.
• Ability to understand and react to job schedules.
• Be aware of normal hazards and take appropriate precautions.
• Understands and adheres to LEAN principles in the area.
• Familiar with all appropriate procedures, policies, and instructions of ISO for area of assignment to ensure quality.
NATURE & SCOPE
This positions reports to the Station Lead and Team Lead of the Welding Department.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Assist with the completion of ongoing training for all employees in the following areas: safety, quality / ISO procedures, production goals and equipment cross training.
• Perform mig and pulse welds.
• Interpret work tickets and channel completed products to staging area for the next operation.
• Complete and maintain ISO documents on a daily basis.
• Responsible for the accuracy of his/her work, be aggressive in training helpers, guide their work performance, maintain a steady work pace and avoid the loss of production time by adhering to safety rules and scheduled break periods.
• Meet or exceed production goals for shift.
• Knowledgeable of and meets quality standards on a consistent basis.
• Help achieve departmental safety goals.
• Maintains and sustain 5’s in the department.
• Understands, mentors and drives LEAN principles in the area.
