Operations Manager

This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business helping our network of local cooperatives, independent dealers and other large retailers serve producers, and animal owners throughout the United States.

Through industry -leading R&D and committed partnerships, we innovate the nutrition products and practices that unlock the full potential of every animal for a healthier, more productive life.

The Operations Manager will provide leadership and supervision to the production operations.

The person in this role will support plant activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, inventory yields, and cost objectives.

Manages process introductions, production procedures and continuous improvement efforts for multiple manufacturing areas across all shifts.

Provides guidance and direction to warehouse and production staff's training and development needs to maintain a competitive and competent workforce within the departments.

Ensures strong documentation and communication of shift activities to other shifts and management.

Required Experience/Education:


* Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of supervisory/management experience in processing/manufacturing operations with solid progressive leadership experience OR High School/GED and 5+ years of supervisory/management experience in processing/manufacturing operations with solid progressive leadership experience


* Strong presentation, communication, training, and interpersonal skills


* Proven track record of understanding the drivers of product and labor cost variances

* Strategically plan, organize, and manage a department with regards to daily hours, schedules, productivity, quality, and safety


* Strong Microsoft Office suite and written communication skills


* Ability to communicate with a variety of people & personalities

Preferred Experience/Education:


* Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field


* Previous experience working as a team leader in a multi-faceted team is highly desirable
