Sheriff Court Services Assistant I/II

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is accepting applications for a Sheriff Court Services Assistant I/II position for Court Services in Riverside.

The incumbent will be responsible for performing specialized civil legal clerical support.

Tasks include, but are not limited to the following:



* Preparing, processing, and tracking legal documents for numerous civil legal actions.


* Providing procedural and case information to the public, litigants, law enforcement officials, and/or other employees.


* Receiving, examining, filing, and maintaining legal documents.


* Processing claims, invoices, purchase orders, payments, and warrants.

Sheriff's Court Services Assistant I is the entry level classification in the Sheriff's Court Services Assistant series and reports to a supervisory or manager level position.

Incumbents are responsible for learning legal terminology and to prepare, examine and process legal documents in support of Sheriff's Court Services, utilizing journey level clerical skills and limited application of specialized civil legal procedures and processes.

The Sheriff's Court Services Assistant I is a natural progression underfill for the Sheriff's Court Services Assistant II classification.

Incumbents are expected to progress to the Sheriff's Court Services Assistant II after satisfactory job performance and meeting the minimum qualifications.

The Sheriff's Court Services Assistant II is the journey-level classification in the series.

Incumbents hired into the Sheriff's Court Services Assistant I position are expected to progress to the Sheriff's Court Services Assistant II after satisfactory job performance and meeting the minimum qualifications.

Seeking applicants with experience working with court documents and legal clerical experience.

The level at which the position will be filled is at the discretion of the department.

* This classification's rate of pay will be set in accordance with California Senate Bill 525 requirements for applicable departments.
