Respiratory Therapist /PFT

Nemours is seeking a Respiratory Therapist/ PFT in Jacksonville, FL.

This position is responsible for: Performing all aspects of Pulmonary and Allergy diagnostic testing and related patient and family education.

Essential Functions

1.

Performs routine and specialty pulmonary function testing, stress testing, and metabolic assessment testing.

2.

Performs complete and accurate patient assessment or reassessment including pulse oximetry and end tidal monitoring.

3.

Collects and prepares laboratory specimens such as sputum, throat, and tracheal aspirate cultures and sweat tests.

4.

Provides education to the patient and /or patient/guardian in a manner that the recipient understands in order to contribute to positive patient care outcome and patient satisfaction.

5.

Performs quality controls and ensures preventative maintenance is completed on diagnostic equipment.

Maintains and orders supplies necessary for pulmonary function lab.

6.

Responds to Code Blue calls and assists in monitoring and stabilizing the patient.

7.

Ensures medications are safely stored in an appropriate area as designated by law, and that medication expiration dates are evaluated on a monthly schedule.

8.

Familiar with pharmacokinetics, contraindications, side effects, mode of administration of all medications.

Requirements

Associate's Degree required.

Successful completion of Respiratory Therapy program and licensed in the state of Florida as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Requires 1 year minimum pediatric experience, 3 years preferred.

BLS from the American Heart Association Required.
