Research Assistant
Job Description
The Temporary Research Assistant will support research within the Mechanical Engineering Department, contributing to projects aligned with the Robotic Systems for Health Lab.
This position is designed for individuals interested in hands-on research experience and will work under the direction of a faculty supervisor to help achieve key research milestones.
Key Responsibilities
* Support ongoing research projects related to soft robotic fabrication and design, including hardware development, prototyping, and testing.
* Assist with data collection, organization, and preliminary analysis.
* Maintain accurate documentation of experiments and research findings.
* Assist with experimental analysis and contribute to publications and presentations as needed.
* Collaborate with faculty and staff to support project documentation.
* Participate in regular check-ins or lab meetings as directed.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
* Experience with data collection and analysis methods preferred.

Compensation Range
In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the hourly base range for this position is $15.92 -$18.00.
This range represents the University’s good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations.
The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials.
This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components.
