Director, Accounts Payable

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounts Payable Manager/Director to lead our AP department and ensure efficient, accurate, and timely processing across all vendor management and payment functions.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage a high-volume workload, train and develop team members (both on-site and offshore), collaborate cross-functionally, and actively participate in cash flow discussions and financial reporting activities.

The ideal candidate excels under pressure, meets tight deadlines, and consistently delivers high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities


* Manage and supervise the Accounts Payable department and staff, including on-site and offshore team members.


* Oversee AP functions such as maintaining the AP general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate payment application, and keeping vendors within agreed payment terms.


* Ensure daily AP tasks are completed, and maintain a controlled, organized AP inbox.


* Develop and enforce systems, policies, and procedures aligned with company standards to ensure accuracy and timeliness.


* Oversee all tax-related processes, including 1099 reporting.


* Manage all payment transactions including ACH, wire transfers, and paper checks.


* Lead data entry, validation, and processing of diverse invoice types such as general overhead, subcontractor invoices, and employee travel reimbursements.


* Monitor and track the status of all AP transactions across internal teams, vendors, and contractors.


* Standardize procedures to enhance departmental efficiency and create internal templates for company-wide use.


* Train new and existing staff to ensure consistent, high-quality performance.

Qualifications


* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.


* 5+ years of accounts payable experience and 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.


* Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and experience leading teams.


* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced accounting software; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


* Strong ERP AP system experience required (Dynamics 365 or NetSuite preferred), including 1099 filing.


* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, leadership, and vendors.


* Strong analytical abilities, exceptional time management skills, and remarkable attention to detail.


* Highly organized, able to multitask, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.


* Strong verbal, written, and customer service skills.
