Equipment Parts Helper

The County of Riverside's Department Waste Resources has an opportunity for an Equipment Parts Helper assigned to the parts storeroom, located in Moreno Valley.

Qualified candidates will possess experience working in an automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment (examples: tractors, loaders, dozers, backhoes, etc.) repair setting (i.e., automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment parts store, service dept.), etc.

Competitive candidates will have working knowledge of automotive and construction equipment, parts, and inventory tracking and operating a sit down forklift.

This position follows a 5/40 schedule 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday.

Uniforms will be provided.

Under general supervision, to assist in obtaining, storing, and issuing parts for the maintenance of a large fleet of automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment; and to do other work as required.

The Equipment Parts Helper typically assists Equipment Parts Storekeepers or Equipment Service Supervisors in a garage facility with a parts storeroom; the latter act as lead workers for the Equipment Parts Helper.

The work involves a variety of highly specialized automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment parts and supplies which require identification of parts for a variety of types and models.

The Department of Waste Resources serves the County's solid waste disposal needs by providing for efficient and effective landfilling of County non-hazardous waste, protecting the environment, and promoting recycling in order to ensure a safe and healthy community for current and future generations.• Assists Equipment Parts Storekeeper or Equipment Service Supervisor in obtaining, storing, and issuing parts for automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment.

• Picks up and delivers parts from local vendors of automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment parts; identifies and issues parts to automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment maintenance workers.

• Posts daily transaction sheets and inventory cards to record issuance of parts; may order parts under the guidance of the Equipment Parts Storekeeper or Equipment Service Supervisor.

• Interprets parts catalogs for proper parts identification; may make duplicate keys on a standard key duplicating device; assists in taking inventories of parts on-hand.

• Assists in accepting invoices, annotating records and preparing reports; may be required to remove vehicle or construction equipment parts to identify a variety of part numbers.Experience: One year of experience in an automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment (examples: tractors, loaders, dozers, backhoes, etc.) repair setting (i.e., automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment parts store, service dept., etc.) with major emphasis on automotive, truck, or heavy construction equipment parts terminology.
