General Purpose

Define the roles and responsibilities of the Housekeeper within a long-term care facility.

The purpose is to maintain a safe, orderly and clean environment free of obstacles and odors.

Essential Duties

• Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day including

• lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors.

• Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms.

• Maintain handrails to ensure they are clean and free of debris.

• Clean and remove dust, dirt or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures.

towel bars, towel dispensers.

• Empty trash cans and replace liners.

• Sweep and mop floors.

• Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents.

• Use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following the user manual instructions.

• Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner.

• Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns.

• Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies are needing replenished.

• Excellent customer skills and positive attitude.

• Excellent time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently or with a team.

Qualification

Education and/or Experience

Minimum requirement to perform the essential functions of this position is a High School Diploma or a GED.

Experience working in a long-term care facility preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Fluent in written and spoken English.
