Senior Crisis Counselor PRN

Trilogy has received funding from the State of Illinois to develop and implement mobile crisis response program in response to the recognition that mental health crises are not currently addressed in the most effective, safe, and trauma-informed way.  Trilogy will provide mobile crisis outreach services to community members in Trilogy’s designated CCBHC and MCRT zip codes.  

The Senior Crisis Counselor is a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and a member of the leadership team, working in collaboration with the Team Leader, Program Manager, and Clinical Director.

While this role does not include direct supervision of staff, the Senior Crisis Counselor provides essential operational and clinical support by assisting with the creation of daily schedules, managing the dispatch and workflow of crisis calls, and serving as the first line of clinical consultation for team members in the field.  

Responsibilities: 


* Serve as the first line of clinical support for team members in the field, offering real-time guidance and consultation during crisis responses while also consulting further with other clinical leadership if needed. 


* Develop and maintain daily staff schedules, coordinating coverage to meet program needs. 


* Support Team Leaders in onboarding and training new staff, helping to orient them to clinical protocols, field procedures, and best practices.


* Collaborate with leadership team members (Team Leader, Program Manager, Clinical Director) to support program operations and uphold clinical quality standards.


* Conduct clinical assessments in the field in pairs with a Peer Engagement Specialist to evaluate mental health status, safety risks, and psychosocial needs.


* Determine appropriate level of care based on assessment findings, ranging from safety planning and outpatient referral to involuntary or voluntary hospitalization.


* Provide immediate crisis intervention and de-escalation using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches.


* Develop and implement individualized crisis response and safety plans that prioritize client stability and least-restrictive care options.


* Collaborate with external community partners, such as law enforcement, EMS, and other first responders, to ensure a safe, timely, and effective response.


* Communicate with hospitals, outpatient providers, and community agencies to facilitate timely referrals and transitions of care. 


* Complete all documentation in a timely and thorough manner.


* Participate in team meetings, debriefings, and trainings.

In addition, participate in Senior Crisis Counselor leadership meetings and program planning activities, contributing insights from the field to help shape service delivery.


* Maintain knowledge of community resources, clinical best practices, and applicable laws and regulations related to Mobile Crisis Response Teams.
