Maintenance & Construction Worker - Flood Control
The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County.

The Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District has multiple opportunities for Maintenance and Construction Workers (MCW) that will be assigned to the Construction and Maintenance Division in Riverside.
The Maintenance and Construction Worker operates under general supervision and reports to the Regional Flood Control Supervisor.
The incumbent must also be able to follow direction from the Assistant Regional Flood Control Supervisor, Equipment Operators, or the daily team leader.
Primary responsibilities include performing a variety of field maintenance and construction work; operating hand tools, trucks, and motorized equipment for Flood Control maintenance or construction projects; and performing other duties as required.
The Maintenance and Construction Worker will perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks that often involve operating less complex motorized equipment such as two-axle or three-axle trucks, water spray trucks, loaders, mowers, skid steers, chippers, and compressors.
Additional duties include opening and closing dam gates to control water flow and depth; clearing debris from inlet trash racks; and performing vegetation trimming, debris removal, brush clearing, mowing, homeless encampment removal, and other maintenance work related to flood control facilities.
The MCW will also safely operate equipment used for fence installation and repair, graffiti abatement, and herbicide application, as well as various hand and power tools.
The role also participates in a vermin and rodent control program .
Ideal candidates will possess:
* A valid California Commercial Class A License

*Commercial Class A License is required within six (6) months from date of hire

* General knowledge of safety rules and guidelines for public works maintenance operations.
* A high school diploma or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D.
test.
* Experience operating heavy equipment such as skid steer, backhoes, excavators, dozers, dump trucks and tractor trailer.
* D esire and ability to perform physical work outdoors, sometimes in harsh environments and inclement weather.
* Self-motivated.
* Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
* Ability to work with a team and fellow co-workers.
4/10 Schedule: four days a week, with each workday lasting ten hours.
*Employees may be required to work extended shifts or be called back in during emergency situations.
They must be available for any emergency call-out as required 7 days/week, 24 hours/day.
