Park Maintenance Worker - Parks - La Quinta

The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County.

A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies .

The Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker - Parks at Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park in La Quinta.

The selected candidate will have a strong background in grounds maintenance, particularly in parks, campgrounds, or natural environments.

This position is responsible for maintaining park facilities, grounds, and the lake environment by performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks.

Duties include maintaining park grounds and campgrounds, repairing irrigation systems, operating light- to medium-duty equipment, and performing basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work.

The role also supports special event setup, installs and repairs signage and fencing, and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations to keep the park safe, functional, and welcoming for visitors.

Additional responsibilities may include public contact duties, such as answering questions from park users about facilities and informing visitors of park rules and regulations.

Competitive candidates will possess:


* Knowledge of irrigation system maintenance and water-efficient landscape practice


* Familiarity with campground operations and visitor service expectations


* Experience providing quality customer service to park users


* Ability to operate small and medium maintenance equipment (e.g., mower, tractors, loaders)


* Skills in basic welding and fabrication for park improvement projects


* Safe handling practices for chemicals, tools, and equipment


* Computer skills (outlook and experience with centralized work order system)


* Experience in plumbing and electrical repair


* Experience maintaining splash pads or pool equipment


* Leadership skills and the ability to mentor others

Work Schedule:

5/40 schedule: 40 hours per week with two consecutive weekdays off.

Weekends will be part of the regular work schedule.

Hours 6:00 a.m.

to 2:30 p.m.

and regular days off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The role requires availability for evenings as needed to support departmental operations and special events, as well as regular weekend and holiday work.

The Park Maintenance Worker - Parks - Desert is the first professional level classification and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position.

This classification is characterized by its primary function to the performance of buildings and grounds maintenance duties and is solely designated for use in the desert regions such as Blythe, La Quinta, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Coachella, and Indio.
