Hours/Days: 4 10-hour shifts

The Mechanic I is responsible for maintaining utility, process, and building equipment at a proficient level to maximize equipment availability and minimize overall maintenance cost.

Work at a high level to maintain safety excellence, positive human relations, and ensure that environmental standards are maintained.Qualifications

Education/Experience Level


* Associate's degree directly related to the position (e.g., Electronics/Electrical, Instrumentation Technology, Engineering, Refrigeration, HVAC, Welding/Metal Fabrication, or other applicable technical degree) PLUS two years industrial maintenance experience in the appropriate disciplines (e.g., Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Refrigeration, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing/Pipe Fitting, Welding, Production Machine Maintenance, High Pressure Boilers, Pure Water Systems, Utility Systems, Repair and Overhaul, etc.); OR HS diploma or equivalent with six years of industrial maintenance experience in appropriate disciplines (e.g., Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing/Pipe Fitting, Welding, Production Machine Maintenance, High Pressure Boilers, Pure Water Systems, Utility Systems, Repair and Overhaul, etc.)


* Basic computer skills


* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings


* Strong verbal communication skills


* Ability to analyze maintenance problems and develop corrective actions in a timely manner


* Self-motivated, responsible, and safety-oriented individual.


* Ability to work with outside vendors and contractors to perform maintenance tasks

Physical/Environ.

Demands


* Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening


* Must be able to walk and use hands.

Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs


* May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 150 pounds


* Ability to frequently communicate and understand work instructions and information in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where noise level is loud.


* Must be able to detect and discern safety alarms and respond accordingly.


* Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, respiratory protection


* Exposure to outside weather conditions is routine


* May be exposed to working in extreme heat and humidity


* May also be exposed on occasion to dust or fumes
