Dietary Aide
About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Dietary Aide to join our dietary team.
The Dietary Aide supports kitchen operations by assisting with meal preparation, serving, cleaning, and maintaining a sanitary work environment.
This role is essential to ensuring our residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a clean and welcoming environment.
You'll work under the supervision of the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and play a key role in supporting the daily food service routine.
Responsibilities
* Set up meal trays and assist with serving meals
* Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
* Strip down returned trays and operate the dishwasher
* Check and record dishwasher water temperature and chlorine concentration at the beginning of each shift
* Prepare snacks and nourishments as needed
* Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen floors
* Carry out trash and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
* Store groceries safely and neatly
* Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and other kitchen areas
* Assist the cook or dietary supervisor when needed
* Participate in ongoing training and orientation for dietary staff
* Maintain positive communication and teamwork with all departments
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Ability to read and follow recipes and technical procedures
* Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
* Basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios)
* Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's Certificate (can be obtained after hire)
Physical Requirements
* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
* Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 lbs)
* Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching
* Must have good hearing, vision, and manual dexterity
* Comfortable working around food, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment
Work Environment
* Generally low to moderate noise levels
* Must be able to work safely around hot surfaces and sharp utensils
