Supervising Deputy Public Administrator - Sheriff's Office

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Supervising Deputy Public Administrator to fill a vacancy within the Coroner/Public Administrator Bureau in Perris.

As a Supervising Deputy Public Administrator, the incumbent will assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff engaged in probating deceased persons estates; and perform the more difficult estate administration work.

The incumbent is accountable for the overall compliance and timeliness of their subordinates' caseload.

Responsibilities include supervising probate administration, such as selling property, liquidating assets, closing accounts, managing auctions, handling taxes, and ensuring proper distribution of estate funds; appearing in court and providing testimony as needed; coordinating funeral, burial, or cremation arrangements; assisting with evictions when necessary; communicating with families; and overseeing the financial assistance program for funeral services.

The Supervising Deputy Public Administrator will perform both office and fieldwork related to investigating and administering the estates of deceased persons.

This position will require the incumbent to work around offensive sights and smells, and to work in an indoor/outdoor environment where they may be exposed to variable weather conditions, insects, and/or rodents.

The department seeks candidates who possess supervisory experience with probate laws, court procedures, and legal research using databases and online resources.

Candidates who have served as a Public Administrator, Public Guardian, or Public Conservator are encouraged to apply.

Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.

• Supervise the work of the Public Administrator staff for conformance to time schedules, state codes and division policies and procedures; train and assist staff in administrative procedures, state codes, techniques used in estate investigation to determine decedent's assets, and the methods of probating decedent's estates.

• Evaluate the performance of assigned staff.

• Serve as the estate administrator for the more complex Public Administrator cases involving complicated legal issues, public figures and large estates.
