Purpose: The Senior Scientist will own raw material development, characterization and specifications in support of product and process development, with hands-on bench-top and pilot-scale work.

You will:


* Lead raw material characterization to support product and process development milestones.


* Plan and execute bench-top and pilot-scale process development activities, applying sound experimental design and data-driven decision making.


* Identify target monomer and polymer chemistries via literature and patent searches; assess relevance to project milestones and IP strategy.


* Develop novel monomer systems and perform process characterization to advance the J&J Vision product pipeline.


* Troubleshoot material and process development issues using chemistry and polymer science fundamentals, focusing on monomer architecture, impurity profiles, polymerization kinetics (photo and thermal), extraction processes, material stability, and structure-property relationships.


* Apply and interpret a broad set of material characterization techniques (NMR, HPLC, UV/Vis, DMA, DSC, FTIR, XPS, Rheology) to inform decisions and product quality.
