Engineering Technician II (ID512)

Job Summary:

The Engineering Technician II is primarily responsible for assisting in the daily operations and maintenance of manufacturing equipment/processes for the manufacture of night vision image intensifiers.

This is a hands-on engineering technician position.

The individual can expect to spend more than 80% of their time interacting with the equipment and operators, building/repairing mechanical tooling, and dispositioning of non-conforming product.

Responsibilities:


* Optimizing manufacturing processes


* Implementing cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements, waste elimination)


* Training production employees to enhance work processes and product quality


* Work to minimize or eliminate issues related to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and production


* Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:


* Proficiency in the use of hand and machine tools, precision gauges, test instruments, and process equipment


* Ability to accurately read, understand, and follow procedures


* Possess an understanding and skills in effectively applying Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce waste and improve efficiency



* Strong analytical abilities and troubleshooting techniques


* Strong verbal and written communication skills


* PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required


* Must have the ability to work effectively within a team


* Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required


* Experience in training others


* Ability to obtain Security Clearance


* Must be able to comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, Company Policies, and Procedures


* Must be able to work an off-shift schedule

Education, and Preferred Experience:


* Associate's degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.) or related work experience


* 2+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment


* Assembly/review/inspection of mechanical assemblies


* Ultra-high vacuum equipment


* Experience working in cleanroom environments


* Writing MS Access queries


* Statistical analysis software: Minitab, JMP, Cornerstone, etc.


* Coding and scripting development: Visual Studio (VB.net, C#, C+.

etc.), Python, JSL (JMP scripting language), or similar


* Process improvement


* Six Sigma certification (Yellow, Green, Black Belt)
