Respiratory Therapist, Technology Dependent Clinical Lead
Nemours is seeking a Respiratory Therapist - Lead to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE.
The Clinical Lead will be responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.
Responsibilities:
* Acts as a clinical resource for Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP), students, and Acute Care staff.
* Attends bedside medical rounds with the physicians and Acute Care staff.
* Acts as a liaison between the Acute Care staff and the Respiratory Care Department.
* Attends all Acute Care leadership meetings as a representative of the Respiratory Care Department.
* Performs monthly regulatory safety and emergency equipment checks (i.e., Difficult Airway Cart, Respiratory Code Bag) to assure function and readiness.
* Quality Assessment tools should be completed to evaluate needs for improvements in the process.
* Develops policies and procedures under the direction of the Respiratory Care Clinical and/or Medical Director.
* Designs, develops, implements educational tools for clinicians or medical staff, based upon services and quality improvement monitoring,.
* Assists in the development and completion of research projects that involve the Respiratory Care Department and/or Technology Dependent units.
* Maintains clinical competencies in all aspects of routine and advanced respiratory care provided by the Respiratory Care Department.
* Maintains yearly proficiencies as required by the Respiratory Care Department.
* Provides direct patient care as required, based upon patient acuity and staffing levels.
* Provides age and developmental-appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.
* In coordination with Clinical Instructors, designs, develops, implements and evaluates inservice and educational programs for the technical and professional staff with the Medical Director of Respiratory Care, Director of Respiratory Care, and the Assistant Director of Respiratory Care.
* Provides instruction and training in respiratory care to physicians, nurses, and other health care personnel.
* Participates in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures, and new services.
* Evaluates new respiratory care products and procedures.
* In conjunction with the Clinical Instructors, evaluates the training and performance skills of clinical staff.
Qualifications:
* Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) registration is required.
* Graduate of COAARC approved Respiratory Care Program; Bachelor degree OR currently enrolled in school with plan to complete Bachelor degree within 3 years
* Active Delaware license is required.
