Plant Superintendent

Primary Purpose of the Role

The responsibility of this position is to manage the overall safety and service of production within the manufacturing site.

This person oversees and provides support to the Production Managers in all aspects of manufacturing and plays a key role in developing and tracking key metrics.

In addition they interface routinely with Customer Service, Marketing, Human Resources, Procurement, Maintenance Manager, Engineers, Sales, Production Managers, Graphic Manager, and Distribution Manager.

Essential Job Duties


* Supervise and provide support to the Production Manager in all aspects of operations specifically for safety, quality and production.



* Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures



* Follow and Maintain all Food Safety, GMP and HACCP Guidelines



* Report and monitor on key metrics around manufacturing performance including, safety, quality, and service.



* Supervise and support the management of the production staff.



* Lead and participate at safety, operational, and cross functional meetings with all departments as required.



* Model company values and Lean principles through personal actions/behaviors.



* Written and verbal communication upward, downward, and across the organization chart.



* Ensure standardized work is being followed.



* Troubleshoot and lead problem solving to prevent problems from reoccurring.

Take action to implement improvements quickly.



* Works with Planning, Cost Accounting, and Production Managers to assure performance objectives are met and or exceeded.



* Understand manufacturing capabilities, product features and asset throughputs.



* Cost management - required to interact routinely with Accounting.

Understand Production Rate, Waste, and Labor Standards and how they are applicability to the company's business processes.



* Interacts and communicates proactively with Marketing, Procurement, Planning, HR, Finance, Marketing and Sales personnel.



* Follow and Maintain all Food Safety, GMP and HACCP Guidelines



* Supervises plant colleagues and daily operation across multiple functions.



* Delegates plant assignments and job schedules.



* Facilitates the day to day activities with other departments.



* Prepares and evaluates required production reporting, paperwork and communications, etc.



* Perform all other duties as assigned.

* Ability to see waste in the manufacturing process and then prioritizes, develop objectives, and then directs subordinates to focus on the right activities within the business to optimize performance.
