Health Information Specialist I, Full-time

Prepares medical record documents of patients for scanning in various settings.

Scans/uploads documents into an electronic system to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Ensures patient name, medical record number, account number, form type and other applicable information is correct.

Review records for completion based on applicable regulations (accreditation agencies, CMS, or state).

Communicates with providers, physicians, and clinicians to obtain any missing or incomplete documentation. 

Responsibilities:


* Performs a variety of activities involving preparation, scanning and indexing of medical record documents so that scanned images upload to the Electronic Health Record.


* Reviews EHR for deficiencies and communicates the providers and clinicians when documentation is missing or incomplete.

Monitors accordingly.


* Answers phones and performs follow up calls to providers for unsigned orders and documentation.


* Must retain excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.

Qualifications:


* High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.


* 1 to 4 years of experience in health information or related activities involving use of computer and familiarity with health information forms. 


* Formalized medical record technician training, or previous experience in health information management preferred. 


* Associates degree preferred.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm 

Location: 3599 University Blvd South Suite 1000, off of Samuel Wells Drive
