Environmental Health & Safety Senior Specialist

Execute significant aspects or components of EHS programs, serving as a technical expert in the specialty area.

Provide interpretation of applicable laws and guidelines, including consultation and training.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish EHS Requirements: Develop and implement Environmental Health and Safety Requirements, Policies, SOPs, Best Practices, and conduct Plant Regulatory Compliance Evaluations.

Regulatory Updates: Deploy and implement updates and revisions to regulatory programs.

Technical Expertise: Offer expert advice on EHS matters and represent CooperVision in interactions with regulatory agencies and government bodies.

Audits and Compliance: Conduct internal and external EHS audits and resolve compliance issues.

KPI Monitoring: Monitor EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Puerto Rico Manufacturing Operations.

Strategic Planning: Participates in the development and provide support to maintain the EHS Long Range Plan (LRP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

Environmental Social & Governance (ESG): Lead and/or provide support in the implementation of sustainability initiatives and other strategic local, regional, or corporate ESG projects.

Accountable for:
1.

Regulations : Ensure compliance with existing and new EH&S federal, state, and local regulations.

Develop new programs' plans for deployment and site implementation.

Support EHS programs and procedures; administer local, state, and federal guidelines applicable to each regional site.

Stay current on emerging industry trends and incorporate changes/updates to site-specific programs.

Consult with industrial professional groups, legal regulatory requirements support experts, or EHS professional consultants to stay current on trends and issues, providing assertive EHS technical expertise and guidance.
2.

Agencies : Interface with EH&S regulatory agencies.

Be recognized as a subject matter expert with external agencies and EHS peers within the Puerto Rico manufacturing industry sector.

Prepare for and conduct inspections with external agency representatives, if needed.

Provide and prepare reports and responses to inquiries for regulatory agencies.

Conduct PRMO EHS regulatory program monitoring.
3.

Support CooperVision PRMO: Assesses new trends/issues, project impact on site operations, and/or develops policies according to current EHS Requirements, Policies, SOP's & Best Practices replication.

Addresses issues that are moderate in scope in compliance with local, State and Federal laws and regulations.

Develop and implement applicable EH&S regional programs.

Maintain & continuously improve EH&S programs to support CooperVision PRMO day-to-day operations.

Conduct and documents moderately complex inspections/investigation and ensure that proper corrective, preventive actions are implemented including conduct plants regulatory compliance evaluations, share regulatory updates & deployment, provide EHS technical advice & guidance, perform internal & external audits...
