Principal Program Manager
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Product Line Management and R&D Management to generate development schedules that achieve key project milestones, NPI deliverables, business requirements, and customer satisfaction.
* Manage cross-functional team to procure material, assemble and test product, complete internal qualification testing, ship qualifiable samples to customers, and launch early-stage ramp in the factory.
* Escort Transceiver products through R&D NPI Phase Gate process, meet NPI deliverable, and deliver qualified products to the global Operations team.
* Primary team interface working with design team, internal support groups, operations team, and marketing; be a catalyst for engagement.
* Manage the project schedule, communicate status, highlight gaps to plan to stakeholders and management.
* Set, manage, and communicate expectations to the project team, management, and other stakeholders.
* Identify and manage project resource constraints, dependencies, and critical paths to accomplish the program goals; resolve issues.
* Manage material supply to ensure build configuration and schedule will support required NPI deliverables.
* Regular communication with global manufacturing and supply chain team members.
* Light travel for development activities: global team coordination, product transfer, and problem resolution.
Education & Experience
* BS/MS in an engineering or science discipline plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Experience with optical transceivers or components desirable.
* Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and/or Product Lifecycle Management processes.
* Experience successfully managing cross-functional teams, interacting with a broad range of functions, skills, cultures, and personalities.
Skills
* Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and risk management skills.
* Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
* Previous experience as an engineer in R&D or Operations a strong advantage.
* Highly self-motivated with a strong multi-disciplinary background is essential.
* Experience with Microsoft Office suite required.
* Experience with Oracle, Agile, and MS Project desirable
Working Conditions
* This position is onsite
* May require occasional off-site meetings or travel
* Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
* Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job
* May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive's needs
Physical Requirements
* Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
* Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
* Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
