Jury Manager - Common Pleas
JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW
Oversee the daily operations of the jury office for all divisions of the Lucas County Common Pleas Court and the Toledo Municipal Court.
This position ensures efficient administration of the jury selection process and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

1.
Schedule, organize, and oversee the annual jury draw for both petit and grand jurors for Common Pleas and Toledo Municipal Court.
2.
Coordinate the summoning of prospective jurors from designated registration lists.
3.
Manage the qualification, exemption, and excusal process for prospective jurors.
4.
Maintain accurate jury pool records and ensure adequate jury availability for trials.
5.
Process requests for deferrals, hardship excusals, and disqualifications.
6.
Schedule and assign jurors to courtrooms based on trial calendars and judge requirements.
7.
Oversee jury assembly room operations and ensure a professional, welcoming environment.
8.
Coordinate jury orientation sessions and provide information about jury service.
9.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local jury management statutes and court rules.
10.
Develop and implement jury management policies and procedures and prepare reports and statistics on jury utilization and operations.
11.
Oversee jury management software and automated systems.
12.
Implement improvements to streamline jury processes.
13.
Serve as liaison between the court, jurors, and the public.
14.
Address juror concerns and resolve issues professionally.
15.
May provide coverage and back-up assistance for Court Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
1.
A high school diploma.
2.
Must possess keen analytical and organizational skills and the ability to function at a high level within a large, complex organization.
3.
Knowledge of common office practices, procedures, and equipment.
4.
Proficiency in operating a personal computer and using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
5.
Ability to prioritize work, work independently without daily direct supervision, and manage a variety of projects simultaneously in a high-pressure atmosphere under severe time constraints.
6.
Must have excellent time management skills and be highly organized and detail oriented.
7.
Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Judges, other elected officials, Court employees, Law Enforcement officers, Lawyers, outside agencies, businesses, and the general public.
8.
Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
