Freight Planner

Title:Freight Planner

Pay: $70,000 - $80,000 Annually

Location: SLC, UT
Schedule: M - F 6AM - 3PM

Position Responsibilities :

The Load Planner is at the very center of a fast-paced strategic environment.

Our customers require individuals who think strategically and plan ahead of rapidly changing situations while maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude.

Load Planners must be organized and engaged with the team.

The Load planner will manage asset utilization to ensure high delivery of customer service and fleet profitability.

The Load Planner will also manage freight acceptance, equipment maintenance, driver and dray planning processes.

This role has the autonomy to run the area and make key cost decisions.

Additionally, the Position assists, coaches, mentors individuals with all training and administrative items.



* Coordinating with Fleet Managers and drivers to ensure all loads are acknowledged to maximize efficiency and on-time service.

Essential job requirements may include, but not limited to:



* Direct company driver usage with third-party dray usage by market.


* Manage equipment balances and chassis dwell time in assigned markets


* Provide direction and feedback on load acceptance and appointment decisions to Customer Service


* Track all inbound freight and work with Customer Service to adjust appointments as necessary


* Monitor Hours of Service for dispatching and compliance


* Understanding and compliance with DOT rules and regulations


* Keep company leadership informed of project priorities and any issues that may require their attention


* Work with other department leaders to establish goals, align priorities and define departmental processes


* Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so at all times


* Must maintain a professional appearance in accordance with dress code policies


* Treat each individual with care, dignity, fairness, respect and recognition


* Work productively and collaboratively with direct supervisor and peers


* Display and encourage teamwork and willingness to be a problem solve


* Provide excellent customer service


* Adhere to all policies and procedures as set forth by the company and encourage coworkers to do the same

Education and Experience:


* High School Diploma or GED required


* 4 year degree in related field preferred or equivalent job experience


* Transportation industry experience preferred


* Ability to work with office equipment, utilizing computers for majority of tasks and must be familiar with Microsoft Office suite of programs.
