Clinical Pharmacist III - Critical Care Specialty/PGY-1 Residency Director

Riverside University Health System - Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist III - Critical Care Specialist, who will also serve as the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Director.

Residency training is required for this role and prior experience as a Residency Program Director/Coordinator preferred.

The Clinical Pharmacist III is the lead classification within the Clinical Pharmacist series and reports to the Supervising Clinical Pharmacist or Assistant Pharmacy Director.

This role requires a high level of independent judgment, oversight of junior staff, and management of the most complex assignments, demanding strong critical thinking, prioritization, organizational skills, and extensive expertise.

Incumbents act as subject matter experts within their specialty area of practice.

This position is distinguished from the Supervising Clinical Pharmacist, who has full supervisory responsibility for staff and oversees day-to-day operations.

For more information, please visit www.ruhealth.org• Provide answers to both distributive and clinical questions; consistently monitor the work of lower level staff to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures; resolve problems and issues arising from pharmacy operations and ensure the smooth workflow of services.

• Work with nurses, physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care; work with other members of the medical center to ensure a cooperative work environment; participate in regional or national organizations in pharmacy services; provide information and interdepartmental educational support to all level of healthcare providers (via grand rounds, continuing education lectures, etc.).

• Assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures and provide input to supervisors and management; lead projects pertaining to the pharmacy area.

• Assist with training of new and existing personnel on departmental procedures and participate in maintaining quality assurance records.

• Participate and maintain quality assurance records; participate in continuous quality improvement activities.

• Serve as patient advocate in matters related to pharmacotherapy; develop staff education materials for medical center staff.

• Assist with maintaining performance improvement processes in order to improve the medication use process; serve in health system committees and cost savings/quality improvement projects.
