Specialist, Field Safety
The Field Safety Specialist position is a leadership role established to oversee application of the Safety processes for the respective region.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Daily Safety support of local area Operations, Maintenance, and Shared Services personnel.
* Maintain close communication with local Maintenance and Operations Supervisors and Managers.
* On-site support of high-risk projects and maintenance activities with a focus on Job Planning/Prep, Equipment Isolation, Equipment Clearing, Excavations and Hot Work/Atmospheric Monitoring.
* Track the progress and status of open audit / ESS action items and assist in completion where possible.
* Visit all control rooms, shops, work sites, pipeline projects, and other field activities on a routine basis to make observations and check compliance and implementation of established safety practices and procedures.
* Attend and participate in Operation's Job Planning, contractor pre-bid, and shutdown meetings with input relative to safety items, activities, and requirements.
* Conduct walk-through safety and housekeeping inspections with local management and/or unit and area supervisory personnel, including on Greenfield Projects.
* Plan, schedule, and coordinate Emergency Response Training schools/programs.
* Participate on Regional Safety Committees.
* Conduct compliance-audit of permit system and provide written report of results/deficiencies to Area Supervision.
* Maintain condition and operability of Emergency Response equipment.
* Oversee/coordinate and monitor contract service/inspection of plant fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus, portable gas detectors and other applicable fire/safety equipment.
* Conduct/coordinate classroom and field training meetings as needed.
* Assist Operations and Maintenance Supervision in preparation of materials for monthly safety meetings.
* Serve as member of Incident Investigation Team.
* Assist respective area management teams in overall compliance of OSHA/PSM/RMP policies.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Safety or other relevant technical field required; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
* Certification in the Safety field is preferred.
* Incident Investigation experience is preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years in an industrial setting or in the Safety field.
* Must be self- motivated to gain knowledge of regulatory affairs in the Safety Management areas.
* Working knowledge of midstream energy industry facilities such as: pipelines (gas, liquids, natural gas liquids), pump and compressor stations, gas and liquid measurement facilities, above and below ground storage, liquid terminals, gas processing facilities, or natural gas liquids fractionation is preferred.
