RN Sclerotherapy (PRN)

EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE:
1.

Education ASN degree required, BSN degree preferred..
2.

Licenses Must have current State of Colorado RN license in good standing.
3.

Certifications Current BLS and ACLS certification
4.

Experience • Minimum 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience in dermatology,
vascular, cosmetic, or outpatient procedure settings preferred.
• Prior experience with injection techniques or sclerotherapy strongly
preferred (training may be provided).
• Proficiency in venous anatomy and sclerotherapy injection techniques
preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


* Physical assessment of pre/post procedural patients.


* Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each
scheduled day.


* Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.


* Inspect and maintain sclerotherapy equipment and supplies.


* Ensure adherence to state nursing regulations and physician delegation rules.


* Monitor patient comfort and vital signs during and after treatment.


* Assisting physician with medical procedures, PRN.


* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education related to vein care and
injection therapy.


* Participate in and contribute to departmental/clinic process improvement initiatives, education
and new staff orientation.


* Work environment will be kept in a neat and well stocked manner.


* Knowledge of medication dosages, routes and actions.


* Careful administration of medication ordered.


* Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic confidentiality policies.


* Report any adverse reactions, complications, or incidents to the supervising physician
immediately.


* Requires adherence to safety and infection control standards.


* Identification of patient needs, planning and implementation of care.


* Direct assistance with any patient need.


* Ensure that all records required for admission, consent, discharge, etc.

are completed.


* Formal and informal patient education.


* Courteous and professional interactions with the public and staff.


* Other job related duties as assigned.

GENERAL DUTIES:


* Perform initial patient assessments including medical history, allergies, and suitability for
sclerotherapy.

Explain the sclerotherapy process, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes in an
understandable manner.

Answer patient questions and address concerns promptly.


* Prepare and position patients for sclerotherapy in a comfortable and safe manner.


* Administer sclerosant injections under physician orders and within scope-of-practice guidelines.


* Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control protocols.


* Provide detailed pre- and post-procedure instructions to patients both written and verbal to
optimize healing and results.
