Grant Manager

The Grant Manager is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of government, family and independent foundation, corporate and association donors to Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

The Grant Manager is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of government, family and independent foundation, corporate and association donors to Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago.

Implements and may provide input into strategic goals for organization and Philanthropy.

This position is charged with developing and executing fundraising strategies designed to build strong relationships with institutional funders and to secure support for general operations, restricted programs, and capital projects.

Applies expertise in Philanthropy to support the development of policies, procedures, and programs.

Is heavily involved in policy research in the areas of workforce development, youth empowerment, community support services, and environmental sustainability.

Forecasts and plans for restricted and unrestricted annual grants.

Develops long-and short-term business strategies and provides direction for a comprehensive institutional grant funding program.

Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 12 months - 2 years.

Has familiarity with the Philanthropy budget and may provide input into spending decisions, particularly as pertains to vendors, systems, and projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1.

Designs and manages a comprehensive grants program by securing contributions or awards and stewarding funding sources including government, corporate, family, and independent foundations.

2.

Manages all aspects of proposal and grant writing, reports, stewardship, scheduling, and record-keeping.

3.

Manage portfolio of approximately 80 existing and prospective institutional funders from identification through cultivation, solicitation, reporting, and stewardship.

4.

Submit all applications, donor cultivation, reports, and renewal materials necessary for award.

Work with program directors to ensure programs are reaching grant goals.

5.

Research, write, and present/submit letters of inquiry, sponsorship proposals and grant applications, and reports, working in partnership with program staff, data team, development colleagues and enterprise leadership.

6.

Work with Finance Department to ensure financial tracking is on par with grant budgets.

Develop knowledge of all organizational activity and communicate Goodwill s work to funders in a compelling manner, both verbally and in writing.

7.

Lead new prospect identification, tracking/management, and assignment for further cultivation.

8.

Direct institutional and corporate donor stewardship efforts including grant recognition processes, reporting and ongoing funder cultivation and communication.
