Fire Systems Inspector

The Riverside County Fire Department (RCFD) seeks to fill Fire Systems Inspector vacancies in Palm Desert & Riverside.

This recruitment may be used to fill other vacancies throughout the county.

The Fire Systems Inspector performs inspections of buildings and facilities under construction, existing facilities, fire protection systems, and industrial processes; prepares and issues fire and life safety inspection reports notices of correction, notices of violation, and may issue fire code permits and other documents related to compliance; manages other program elements, as requested and defined by the Fire Department; performs other related duties as required.

Completion of the California Office of the State Fire Marshal Fire Inspector series I is required.

Competitive candidates will have experience working with an Authority Having Jurisdiction(AHJ) and/or c ompleted the California Office of the State Fire Marshal Fire Inspector series II and/or the Plans Examiner series.

The Fire Systems Inspector is responsible for technical fire safety inspections and works independently in the performance of field and office duties under general supervision of a Supervising Fire Marshal, or other leadership assigned to the County Fire Office of the Fire Marshal or a contract city.

Incumbents perform the more routine investigative and compliance work, under supervision, while acquiring the training and skills necessary to perform the full range of fire prevention inspection activities.

Work is initially subject to detailed and frequent review that lessens as more experience is gained.
