JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Geologistis responsible for performing a variety of project specific geotechnical tasks under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


* Independently evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria within one's discipline


* Apply originality and judgment in the independent evaluation and substantial adaptation of standard techniques


* Perform site reconnaissance including coordinating utility location before drilling, taking photos, surveying, and boring layout


* Supervise field drilling and/or field soil testing activities including logging of samples, testing procedures and results, and site conditions


* Perform laboratory tests on soil and maintain organized soil laboratory


* Put together boring location plans and site vicinity maps


* Data entry from field and laboratory tests (must be proficient in Microsoft Excel up to entering in equations)


* Report preparation (must be proficient in Microsoft Word, including formatting)


* Review/edit/production assistance of Geotechnical Engineering Reports


* Perform other duties as required

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


* Technical degree in Geology, or Geological Sciences, and 6 - 12 years of related experience


* Professional registration/certification is required in one's discipline at this level and higher levels


* Ability to perform tasks in varying field/lab/office conditions


* Computer literacy and ability to operate most field/lab/office equipment relating to one's discipline


* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including formatting
