Job Summary 

 

The Senior Safety Advisor is responsible for conducting safety observations and analyzing observation data to identify trends and training requirements.

Research, suggest, and implement behavior-based observation best practices.

Provide updates on observation best practices to the Safety and Health Department staff.

Additionally, the Senior Safety Advisor will collaborate with teams to mentor, train, coach, and provide support with the goal of building a positive culture where employees are helping each other to perform work safely and are open and interested to learn from each other.

The Senior Safety Advisor will support the Health and Safety Director in imple­menting programs and procedures to reach CORE’s safety goals.

This position will assist with regulatory compliance requirements, safety training, and root cause analysis of incidents and near misses.

The Senior Safety Advisor will guide safety compliance and respond to areas where staff require training.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


* Conducts observations of work practices and provides constructive feedback and assistance to ensure a safe working environment.

The goal is to assist with projects in real time to create a positive, safe work environment that encourages engagement and safe work habits.


* Conducts audits of vehicles and equipment.

Corrects or recommends actions to the Health and Safety Director to remedy any unsafe conditions.


* Reviews the Cooperative’s Safety Manual and helps build new safety procedures.


* Reviews and creates written incident reports on contractor safety incidents.


* Reviews incidents and accidents, prepares reports, conducts root cause analyses, and recommends solutions.

Assists in the analysis of all injuries and motor vehicle accidents involving Cooperative vehicles or equipment; and, when required, will visit the acci­dent site to perform an onsite analysis.


* Provides safety onboarding for new hires and contractors.


* Coordinates hot stick, dielectric, and ground testing programs for all districts.

Conducts periodic inspections and testing of tools and personal protective equipment.


* Identifies processes, work practices, environmental conditions, and other areas of risk that need improvement.

Works with department staff to implement solutions.


*  Reviews safety observations to identify training opportunities or procedural gaps.


* Identifies cooperative policies and practices that deviate from any established federal, state, and local safety laws and rules.
