Manager, External Financial Reporting and Controls
The Manager, External Financial Reporting & Controls will be responsible for all areas relating to general ledger accounting and external financial reporting.
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
This position will be responsible for all areas relating to general ledger accounting and external financial reporting.
The role's duties will include developing and maintaining accounting principles and best practices to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
This position, collaborates with the Sr.
Manager of Financial Compliance & Technical Accounting, implements best practices and ensures accrual general ledger and accounting methods adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidelines.
Responsible for overseeing the monthly and annual accounting close processes and preparation and integrity of financial statements and reports.
Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 1-2 years and focuses on the creation of systems, processes and programs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1.
Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate external financial reporting.
2.
Prepare and analyze monthly, weekly, and ad hoc financial statements and reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
3.
Coordinate with both internal and external auditors to facilitate reviews and audits of financial statements, acting as the primary point of contact.
4.
Establish and maintain robust internal controls to comply with regulatory requirements and enhance financial integrity.
5.
Collaborate across departments to ensure proper accounting treatment of complex transactions and to support overall business needs.
6.
Manage the integration and optimization of financial reporting systems, particularly within the new General Ledger framework.
7.
Lead the development and updating of a new financial reporting framework, ensuring its alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
8.
Research and resolve discrepancies in financial entries and documents, reporting findings and implementing approved changes.
9.
Support the execution and management of annual external and internal audits.
10.
Play a crucial role in implementing new software solutions to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
11.
Leading and Developing Talent: Manages departmental structure, development and training of staff.
Actively networks and sources for positions within the team.
12.
Project and Change Management: Plans and manages projects of low to moderate complexity related to departmental function.
Manages change with direct reports and participates in the leadership coalition that supports the change.
13.
Community Engagement: Understands social trends driving Goodwill's community engagement initiatives, and champions initiatives.
14.
Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
